Remingtons Rundown My Day with Dad

Hey Doodle Lovers! Its Remington Bear here!

Both Mom and Dads schedule have been all over the place lately. This has been hard on me, because it often times means I have to be crated while they are working. Mom and Dad hate doing this too me so one week when I had been crated for three days while Mom and Dad both worked, Dad surprised me and came home and brought me to work with him!

Dad had been working with some of the new recruits coming in to their police department. Everyone was outside that day so I got pretty much free reign of the area they were in!

All you gotta do is give me my Frisbee and Im a happy camper!

A bunch of the officers were playing football and tried to teach me how...

But I was much more into my beloved Frisbee to really care!

So instead I taught the officers how to play my kind of game instead!

Throw it for heavens sake!

Dont worry! I got it!

Boy was it a fun day with Dad and all his friends! But I was so tired afterward :)

Remingtons Health

At the end of last week Dan and I could both tell something was going on with Remington. For the past few months he just hasnt been himself. It seemed like there was something constantly going on with his legs even though he hadnt done anything out of the ordinary to hurt them. One evening when he came back inside from going potty Dan barely touched him and Remington started screaming in pain, ran away from us, and did not want us to touch him again. After that happened I was convinced it was time to get him to the vet.

We saw a new vet that had just entered the practice we take Remington too. He did a very close exam on Remington since he had never seen him before and this is what we were told. In terms of Remingtons legs... all his joints are fine, but when pressure was applied to his toe bones on each foot Remington displayed an extreme amount of discomfort. The vet said there is no way to know what exactly is causing this without x-rays which we plan to have done in the upcoming weeks to see if we can diagnose the issue. The vet gave us pain medication and told us to keep Remi as quiet as possible until we know more. Im guessing that if the x-rays dont show anything then blood tests will be what is next.

Also, during the check up the vet discovered that the muscle mass in Remingtons jaw bone and temple area is not as developed and strong as it should be. He believes this could be caused by an autoimmune disease which attacks the muscles. This would eventually cause him to no longer be able to open his mouth at all... it isnt to this point yet... but we need to keep an eye on it closely. This disease might also be related to the toe problems.

So basically we just need to have more tests ran to figure out exactly what is going on with our sweet Remi. The pain meds seem to be helping some and make him very tired, but Remington is still showing resistance in wanting to go up and down the stairs, jumping up on the bed, and having his feet touched in general. I posted what was going on in my Goldendoodle Facebook group and several people wondered if Remington might be suffering with Lyme disease? I really dont know and am looking forward to getting answers in the upcoming weeks. I will keep everyone updated as we find out more.

Remingtons Rundown

Hey Doodle Lovers! Its Remington Bear here!

Its been a while since I last made an appearance on the blog! I know you missed me!

What have I been up to lately you ask... well lots of stuff of course, but mostly passing out love to people!

Doing visits at Moms work takes up a lot of my time, but I get so excited when Mom puts on my bandanas and tells me its time to head to work.

Most of the time I do my visits with my girlfriend Bella... but there was about a 5 week period when Bellas Mom was vacationing in Hawaii so my buddy Cubby, the Golden Retriever, filled in for her! I love Cubby and we get along great during our visits together!

But... when Bella finally did return I was super excited and I let her soak up as much love as possible from Moms residents since she had been without any for so long.

When Christmas time rolled around I helped Mom pass out presents to the residents that Santa had delivered. That was hard work and took a long time since we had around 150 residents to visit with. PHEW!

Not only did Santa show up with gifts of all kinds, but Mrs. Claus also made an appearance. She looked so cute and the residents couldnt resist her sweetness.

Because I work so much I often have to spend a lot of time catching up on my beauty rest...

and giving snuggles to my Dad...

and snuggles to my Mom!

I also have been investigating some changes that have been going on around my house. Mom and Dad have been bringing in strange smelling boxes. They tell me they are trying to prepare me to be a big brother. Im not completely sure what it all means but I have a feeling my life could be changing soon. All I know is that I will try my hardest to make Mom and Dad proud of me!

Fall Fun

Every October Dans older brother Matt, who lives in Arizona, flies into Indiana with his entire family to visit all of us who still reside here. So during that time we all make the effort to get together so everyone can enjoy being with one another. This year was special for me because Roarke got the chance to meet all of his cousins on the Rhoton side. Lets just say it was cuteness overload!

It was quite the trip and we enjoyed every minute of it! It will be interesting to see how things are next year when Roarke is roaming around!!!
